Black Rose Minerals- Mini Review & Swatches-Part 1

First things first, if you haven't ordered from Black Rose Minerals (BRM) before, you really should.

Okay, now that's out of the way, I made my first order from BRM a couple weeks ago. I purchased during a sale so I got a great deal on everything. I purchased 25 samples (because I'm a chronic sample buyer) and they arrived at the beginning of the stated TAT (14-28 business days). My samples were packaged nicely along with lots of stickers, a handwritten note from Rosa and two extra samples. The swatches on BRM's website are great and are amazing at helping you choose the colors you'd like. I will say though, I was a bit iffy on some of the colors I picked, but I bought them anyway. If you're iffy about a color, JUST GET IT (at least a sample). I promise, it will amaze you once you see it in person.

Okay, on to swatches. All are swatched over LA Splash Eyeshadow Base/Sealer.

Pacific Oil Slick- "A black base with a blue green shimmer."

Mother Sunflower- "A vibrant, warm and very bright yellow with a delicate shimmer."

Minty-"A pearly light mint with a touch of shimmer."

Demonoid Phenomenon-"A deep rose bordering on soft red. Lavender and blue sparkles give it a slight sheen in certain lights."
This is part of the Not Another Zombie collection based off of the one and only Rob Zombie.

*Sidenote: I absolutely LOVE Rob Zombie. I've seen him live (which is absolutely amazing) and I'm a huge Rob Zombie fan. This is my all time favorite song. I need to get the rest of this collection!*

Lost-"an alluring bright aqua and pink glitter"

Moonlight-"This delicate sheen of violet blue shimmers and shines with iridescent hues."

Poppy-"Delicate golden and copper highlights add to the warm coral tone."
*This is color actually leans towards a lighter coral than my camera captures. Swatches on BRM's website are color accurate*

Confused-"What color is it? We don't really know. But our sources tell us there may be violet, gold, green and/or blue. What we do know is that it's a great sheer neutral."

Sushi-"A light beige base with purple/lavender sparkles."

I'll have two more parts coming up soon! Keep an eye out!

Rockeresque Beauty Co.- Sparrow, XOXO and Girl Fight

 Hi All!

I received a few samples of Rockeresque Beauty Co.'s eyeshadows from the lovely Leilani over at Leilani-Makeup Artist to try out. I've never purchased from Rockeresque directly, so I can't speak about the experience when shopping with the company, but I can speak about the products I received.

The samples came in little baggies with labels (company name, product name and ingredients) and contained enough product for about 5 uses, so there's enough eyeshadow to get a "feel" for the products. They were very silky and extremely pigmented. No building up to get great color pay off.

Well, the colors looked good in the baggies but once I put them over LA Splash Eyeshadow Sealer/Base, they came to life! I've honestly not seen eyeshadow this vibrant in a while! The colors Leilani picked for me were PERFECT! I do think I will eventually put in an order. I mean, just looking at these few samples it leaves me wanting more!

Yes, these colors are that vibrant! My camera didn't have a freak-out like I would have expected since they are so vibrant.

So far I think I'm going to have to pick up a full size of Sparrow and XOXO. I love the website. It's nicely done. Not confusing at all!

Prices for full sizes are $6. I'm not seeing any way to pick individual samples to try out, but there is a sample kit (Minnie's) with 5 samples (approx. a half gram of product) for $7.

Have you shopped with Rockeresque before? What colors do you love?

Eccentric Cosmetic Swatches

Hi!

Eccentric Cosmetics is a cosmetic shop located in Australia. There's a mixture of light and darker shades but not many bright shades. If you tend to lean towards darker colors of eyeshadow, this is the shop for you!

I received a few samples from Eccentric Cosmetics a few weeks ago for review. Shipping was fairly quick from Australia to the US (10 days).

The prices range from $6.45 USD for a full size and sample packs run from $6.45 USD (for 5 samples) to $12.90 USD (for 10 samples). There's also a Blogger/Youtube pack of samples if you're a blogger and you'd like to review the products.

The colors I received are actually really intricate and gorgeous. From the product photos you can tell they are pretty, but the swatch photos you can tell what the color will be like on skin. I had no issues at all with the formula of the eyeshadow. I actually think this company has one of the better formulas I've tried with eyeshadow. It's very pigmented, silky and has great staying power.

These are swatches of the colors I received. All are swatched over LA Splash Eyeshadow Sealer/Base.

Extinction Revival- "rich warm red with metallic green sheen, filled with gold sparkles. (not lip safe)"

Biological Manipulation- "metallic coppery rose shifts to metallic golden sheen over a olive green base (not lip safe)"

Planetary Living- "light baby blue shifts to a glowing green, then transform to shimmering pink sheen, depending upon the angle, and how close to the light the eyeshadow is. (not lip safe)"

Robot Takeover-"subtle silver sheen over a light navy blue base, fill with purple sparks (not lip safe)"

Digital Love-"light pink base changes to a deep pink, and a warm lilac purple. The sparkling highlights changes from aqua to green depending upon the lightening, and the angle. (not lip safe)"

All shades.

Higgs Boson-"acid yellow base; the highlights shifts to a green/purple/aqua sheen depending upon the lighting and the angle. (not lip safe)"

Galactic Era- "warm brown with scatterings of silver, and gold sparks. (not lip safe)"

Artificial Intelligence- "purplish red shifts to a coppery orange, transforms to a golden green, depending upon the angle, and how close to the light the eyeshadow is. Filled with blue, and green sparkles. (lip safe)"

Oceanic Expeditions- "navy blue fill with gold, and purple sparks. (not lip safe)"

Progressive Adaptation- "chocolate brown base with blue sheen that changes to a subtle purple sheen depending upon the angle, and the lighting. (not lip safe)"

All shades.

I really like Extinction Revival, Higgs Boson and Oceanic Expedition. Which shades do you like?

Also, please check out THIS POST and let me know your thoughts on my new swatching style. Please be honest! Thank you!

I Need Your Advice!

Hi!

The holidays are finally over and I'm finally getting some free time to blog! Woo! Along with a new year came a new camera I'm in love with. I got a Canon SX50 HS for Christmas, so that means better photos! I'm still learning the ropes since I've never owned a Canon before (I've always used Fujifilm) but overall I'm liking this much more than Fujifilm. I have so much more control over lighting/colors/etc.

Well, I thought I'd try a new swatching style. I really like swatching like this since I feel it looks nicer and people can get a better idea of the shift or glitter.

I'll have a post up later tonight (Jan. 7th, 2013) and I'd like your advice. Be completely honest. Do you like this way I swatch or the old way? Depending on the answers I get, I'll stick with one or the other.

Just comment below and let me know. I appreciate the advice! Thank you in advance!
